VanGoR, Vanilla Gorilla Art was spawned from a damaged man's desire for refuge, a sanctuary in a secret identity and tactile outlet.
Through incredible guidance, VG was inspired to discover and share his deepest thoughts, feelings, emotions and dreams and began expressing them through stencil spray paint art. He credits Artist and friend, Kade Valja, as his greatest teacher and guide in expressing oneself through art.
Heavily influenced by the social statements of hip hop and urban culture in his youth, the nostalgia of retro pop culture, influential figures from history and artists of all media. VG's art focuses primarily on stencilled portrait work, capturing individuals often emersed in a role or perception that he connects with and utilises as self expression.
'All art is quite useless.' - Oscar Wilde.
Mr Wilde went on to explain this further in a hand written letter to an admirer, 'A work of art is useless as a flower is useless. A flower blossoms for its own joy. We gain a moment of joy by looking at it.' VG's progression as an artist has been a therapeutic voyage to find balance in his life. He seeks neither fame, nor fortune and he shows and sells his art in the hope for others to find their own import, their own moment of joy.
Thank you for visiting, taking the time to read about VG, thank you for keeping him in awe that people enjoy his paintings as much, sometimes more than he does.
Live long and prosper.
